Building Bridges Seminar at Finsbury Park Mosque
The Somali Women's Network's announcement and invitation:
On Sunday 1ith March 2007 at 1.30 pm, the Somali Women's Network will be taking Building Bridges day to Finsbury Park Masjid insha'allah. Brother Abdullah, the Imam at Feltham Detention Centre, will have the chance to speak to the somali youths, elders, and women based in North London about the concerns and issues regarding the somali youth offenders currently serving time at Feltham Youth Institution.
We will also have the pleasure of welcoming Sister Rukhsana Shah who currently works at Holloway Prison (female prison). Sister Rukhsana will be able to tell us more about the Somali women in Prison and how the somali women can get involved in supporting our sisters both inside and once they are released. There will also be a representative from the Muslim Youth Helpline.

here's the agenda for Sunday, inshallah. Please note the Muslim Chaplain for Holloway(Female) Prison will be there too. She'll be telling us how we can support the women at this prison, a handful are Somali and over a hundred took up Islam whilst at prison. Please let people know- North London is crawling with Somalis.
I also hope to be a mentor for one of the boys at Feltham. I've been told that one of the men who attended the event at Southall now visits the boys on Fridays. I'm so glad. If you know anyone who lives in that part of the world, please encourage them to visit the boys.
Does anybody know if there is any truth to the story of a Somali dying in prison recently? I've heard this from two different people but not seen any official news on it. Do let me know. Thanks.
